My Story

Randall decided he would go into music as a career when he was a high school senior in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The music school at The University of North Texas was practically in his own backyard, so he enrolled there and graduated with a B.A. He also earned a master's degree in trombone performance from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Hestand worked many freelance music jobs in the Boston area for the next five years after graduating. Networking with many musicians there led to him getting connected to a contractor who hired musicians for tour jobs in Europe. These tour jobs overseas involved performing trombone in the pit orchestras for classic Broadway shows. This work lasted for about ten years as the tours going out were regularly recurring. Following those jobs Randall performed trombone in cruise ship showbands for the next fourteen years. The steady employment of the musical tours and the cruise ships over the years brought a great deal of travel opportunities for him, which he would not trade for anything. Randall was able to retire from ships in 2020 and he continues to get a great kick out of playing trombone for fun.
